Station protectors are designed for residential and small commercial telephone systems where a PBX or other switch is not in use. The common practice is to use a station protector and enclosure as the primary building entrance protector. Older homes may only have a simple Station Protector instead of a NID (Network Interface Device). If you only have a Station Protector you can call your Phone Service Provider and request a right NID.
